A method for analysing seismic reflection data uses diagrams of variation of the reflected wave amplitude function of the incidence angle. Reflected wave recordings are obtained with a system of emitters - receivers which generate incident waves at various angles, below 30 degrees, and collects the reflected wave data. The diagrams (D1,D2) are obtained at different times (t1,..t5) and used to determine an intercept (R0) and a gradient (G) for each of them. The gradient and intercept values are plotted on a diagram (C) in a 2D system of co- ordinates where they generate a cluster of points (E). Five points (P1,.. P5) characteristic of times t1,..t5, are also plotted on the same diagram. A point P3, which is situated below the cluster E corresponds to an energy decrease function of offset.
