摘要

The damage from mining subsidence ranges from land settlement to severe structural damage to structures. As a result, the prediction and hence control of surface subsidence are imperative for any environmentally acceptable coal-mining operation. Subsidence prediction has been the goal of mining engineers for over a century. Many methods have been pursued, mainly in Europe, to achieve this objective by employing empirical solutions, mathematically derived profiles based on the theories of elasticity, visco-elasticity, visco-plasticity and the use of influence functions.
