Each year, more applications are implemented on the Internet. Some of them are newly developed and some others have been modified from their original version with the intention to fit in the particular environmental challenges of the Internet. Among this last group, voice has not been completely integrated into the Internet, because as of today, the Internet is incapable of providing the Quality of Service (QoS) required for voice applications.;This work documents the design and implementation of an original algorithm called Router-based-Distributed Bandwidth Allocation Algorithm (RDBAA) which has the goal of improving QoS for non-elastic applications such as voice by sacrificing QoS for elastic applications such as File Transfer Protocol (FTP) or e-mail. The proposed algorithm resides on top of link-state routing protocols such as Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) and makes usage of Traffic Engineering over MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS-TE).;By design, the proposed algorithm is (a) simple, (b) compatible with current widely deployed protocols and (c) capable of incremental deployment in order to fit into an Internet Service Provider (ISP) network. The algorithm is implemented to demonstrate that (i) it can improve QoS for voice traffic while not starving the quality offered to all other services and (ii) it can avoid instabilities caused by its router-based-distributed nature.
