摘要

The Municipal City of Shanghai has become the focus as the International Financial Centre of the People Republic of China. The rapid urban development involves construction of infrastructure and property developments at geometric scale. It is inevitable that some of these constructions being carried out above existing metro tunnels; it becomes more critical when deep excavations are involved. This paper is to study how the "Time-Space Effects Theory" can be applied as a mean of counter measures to minimize tunnel upheaving effect during overlying excavations. Hence, ensure the safe operations of metro lines.
